Beginners Level Ballroom & Latin
This course is designed for absolute beginners . We run this class as a 5 weeks term covering 2 dances – 1 Latin, 1 Ballroom Let us teach you how to dance. At Meridian Dance Centre we are passionate about dance and think that anyone can do it. Our dance classes offer a friendly, relaxed setting for learning the fundamentals of the most well-liked Ballroom & Latin dances and getting you out dancing. Your confidence in dancing the Jive, Cha Cha, Salsa, Quickstep, Rumba, and many other enjoyable social dances will quickly be restored by our passionate staff. For anyone visiting Meridian Dance Centre for the first time, we also provide a free introductory class.
Intermediate & Advanced
If you have danced elsewhere, please contact us for the approximate level required to join. This is a more advanced class where the figures learned depend more on the abilities of the students. We vary our figures and routines regularly so there is always something new and fresh to learn for our more experienced dancers. Attending our Intermediate& Advanced classes is always a benefit to any student who wishes to improve their dancing so should also be considered in conjunction with this fun group class. Dances covered are: Waltz, Jive, Quickstep, Rumba, Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Samba, Tango
Advanced/Medals
This course is term-based ( school terms 9,10 or 11 weeks, depending on the term). You will learn in-depth Ballroom and Latin routines, techniques and partnering skills during this term. You can advance in your dancing with like-minded individuals if you commit to 10 weeks and you’ll be prepared for medal examinations and dance performances . Medal Assessment/Examination (Medals) is a professional examiner’s evaluation of your dancing abilities. It’s a lot of fun to participate in Medals and Performances but it’s not required. The key result of this class is a commitment to dancing, a desire to improve, and a professional dance teacher who will push you to become a better dancer.
Latin SOLO – new class!!
Solo Latin class is ideal for someone who would like to learn how to dance SOLO Samba, Cha Cha, Rumba, jive, Paso double ( no partnering ).
During this sessions you will:
- – have lots of fun learning Latin dancing, gaining confidence on a dance floor and meeting new people
- – develop technique so you move gracefully and can see progress
- – learn from professional teacher and adjudicator accredited with DSA who told some of the top couples/dancers in Australia
Social Dancing
Join us for the night of dancing and fun! Meet new people, have a cup of tea or coffee with your dance friends and enjoy dancing Latin and Ballroom. Any level of dancers are welcome; partners are not necessary
